A good-enough research paper

More on the History 333 Research paper standards.

The seven standards are for a paper that does all seven things well. The hardest items on the list, though, and the ones that trip up a lot of students, are items number 5 & 6. It's possible to get a decent grade, though, with a paper that doesn't make much of an analytical argument (and thus doesn't need to be particularly convincing), but that does all the other things well and presents a solid historical narrative. Such a paper may not get a straight A, but it would certainly allow you to pass the course.

If you write this kind of a paper, standard number 7, originality, would look like this: "it crafts the narrative details from many different sources, primary and secondary, to add color and historical voices and tell the story in a unique way."
